Old Growth Douglas Fir

The Pacific Northwest old-growth forest is dominated by large ancient trees. Douglas fir, Western Hemlock, and Western Red Cedar are the principal old-growth species. The large trees are predominantly 200 to 350 years old. However, some my be over 500 years. The old growth forest are found in the Coast and Cascade Range mountains from southern Alaska to northern California.
